Citation Aggarwal, M. et al. " Azimuthal di-hadron correlations in d+ Au and Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV measured at the STAR detector. " Physical Review C 82.2 (2010): n. pag. Yields, correlation shapes, and mean transverse momenta p T of charged particles associated with intermediate-to high-p T trigger particles (2.5 < p T < 10 GeV/c) in d + Au and Au + Au collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV are presented. For associated particles at higher p T 2.5 GeV/c, narrow correlation peaks are seen in d + Au and Au + Au, indicating that the main production mechanism is jet fragmentation. At lower associated particle p T < 2 GeV/c, a large enhancement of the near-(φ ∼ 0) and away-side (φ ∼ π) associated yields is found, together with a strong broadening of the away-side azimuthal distributions in Au + Au collisions compared to d + Au measurements, suggesting that other particle production mechanisms play a role. This is further supported by the observed significant softening of the away-side associated particle yield distribution at φ ∼ π in central Au + Au collisions.

Exploration of jet energy loss via direct γ-charged particle azimuthal correlation measurements

The multiplicities of charged particles azimuthally associated with direct photons and π0 have been measured for Au+Au, p+p, and d+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 GeV in the STAR experiment. Charged particles with transverse momentum 0.5 < ph ± T < 16 GeV/c for p+p and d+Au, and 3 < ph ± T < 16 GeV/c for Au+Au and pseudorapidity | η | ≤ 1.5 in coincidence with direct photons and π0 of high transve...

Energy Dependence of Short and Long-range Multiplicity Correlations in Au+au Collisions from Star

A general overview of the measurement of long-range multiplicity correlations measured by the STAR experiment in Au+Au collisions at RHIC is presented. The presence of long-range correlations can provide insight into the early stages, and the type of matter produced in, these collisions. These measurements have been made in Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 200 and 62.4 GeV. These results indicate a ...

N ov 2 00 4 1 π − Ξ correlations in Au - Au collisions at STAR

We present π − Ξ correlation analysis in Au-Au collisions at sNN = 200 GeV and √ sNN = 62.4 GeV , performed using the STAR detector at RHIC. A Ξ (1530) resonance signal is observed for the first time in Au-Au collisions. Experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions. The strength of the Ξ peak is reproduced in the correlation function assuming that π and Ξ emerge from a system in ...

Forward Pion Production in Hadron Collisions at STAR

In contrast to the case for the nucleon, little is known about the distribution of gluons in nuclei, especially in the region of Björkenx < 0.01, where x is the fraction of the nucleon’s momentum carried by the parton. Studies of deuteron(proton)+nucleus collisions at large center of mass energy ( √ sNN=200 GeV) can provide constraints on the gluon density in heavy nuclei. In the perturbative Q...
